Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Affairs Directorate:

  • Formally receive complaints against federal judges or council appointees through the established channels and procedures.
  • Prepare a document for the complainant to fill out, outlining the necessary requirements for establishing a disciplinary case.
  • Compile the complainant’s file, ensuring confidentiality and without impeding the court’s proceedings, and then return the file.
  • Organize the complaint file by scanning and assigning a unique number, and retain the information in both soft and hard formats.
  • Present the complaint to the appropriate disciplinary committee, providing an expert opinion in compliance with the relevant legislation.
  • Serve as the secretary for the Judicial Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Committee.
  • Organize the council’s decision-making documentation in a clear and comprehensive manner, distribute it to all relevant council members, and monitor the delivery to confirm receipt.
  • If the allegations are substantiated, the council may constitute judicial misconduct and impose disciplinary measures through the chairperson’s signature. Alternatively, the council may dismiss the complaint and disclose the decision to the complainant through the council secretariat.
  • Coordinate and follow the overall process of the Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Affairs.
  • Compile all relevant documents, including the original complaint, investigative findings, and the council’s final decision, into an organized case file, ensuring proper labelling and formatting for easy reference.
  • Disclose information to any interested party, except for confidential information.
  • Disseminate information and messages regarding the Judicial Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Affairs to the complainant, judges, advocates, law teachers, students, and other interested parties using the institution’s website, social media, and other channels.
  • Timely print and distribute the Judges’ Code of Conduct and Disciplinary material, including any amendments.
  • Identify and present the causes of recurrent misconduct and disciplinary issues through research, and prepare a forum to create awareness.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
